Fandom: Crossing Jordan, NBC.
Jordan is a thirty-something medical examiner working in Boston, Massachusetts. She is known for her single-minded stubbornness when is comes to getting justice for those who can’t do it for themselves- the victims that cross her table.
She works with her boss and good friend Garret Macy. Nigel Townsend, a criminologist who always has her back. Bug, the resident entomology expert who tolerates Jordan’s eccentricities, but admires her nonetheless. Lily, the grief counsoler, who is the closest thing she has to a best girlfriend. And Woody, a detective who challenges her both professional and personally.
When Jordan was ten, her mentally-challenged mother was brutality murdered, leaving her police-officer father to raise her the best he could. The case was never solved. The crime has haunted her ever since and effects every facet of her life.
Trust, commitment and authority are words that don’t always fit in Jordan’s vocabulary. She will admit she’s a sucker for the little guy and this sometimes comes back to bite her in the ass. She can be gullible.
Jordan didn’t mix love and sex. Her relationships were usually short and casual. The second anyone got too close, she'd push away. Jordan doesn’t like to be controlled. That was before Woody wormed his way into her heart and she found herself in the deep end of the pool.
The last few seasons of Crossing Jordan were a growing period for the character. She past the age her mother was at the end of her life and didn’t develop the neuroses she assumed she inherit from her mother. A kinder, gentler Jordan emerged. She has been able to admit she needed to look past her history. She admitted she needs more in her life than work. Maybe a family. She unsuccessfully entered into a relationship with a freelance reporter, only to find they had ethic issues that would ultimately tear them apart. She also tried to become a foster parent. Once again it fell through. Proving that karma and playing by the rules doesn’t always work for her.
In the sixth and final season, Jordan didn’t have time to deal with her personal relationships. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent subsequent surgery. She emerged with a new lease on life. She made an active effort to change and be a “centered” individual...only to discover that is easier said than done. Jordan settled back into life comfortable in her own flawed persona. A plane crash interrupts that. Jordan and crew find themselves stranded on a mountain top. Jordan swears if she’s lives through it she’s going to slow down…maybe travel. She also admits that she loves Woody more than just a friend. Unfortunately, TPTB decided to leave them on the side of that mountain.
As of May 2007, Jordan!pup is now written in a combination of canon and fandom. Everyone made it off the mountain alive and well and she embarked on a romantic relationship with her cop.
